Asya Segalovich grew up between Russia and the United Kingdom. She went to Central Film School, London, for her Bachelor of Arts, continued her education in St. Petersburg, attending Alexander Sokurov’s workshop in 2020, and received her MFA in screenwriting from Columbia University in 2023. Her feature screenplay Beetle Baby won Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival Screenwriting Discovery Grand Prize. Obraza, a short film Asya co-wrote (credited as Elise Segal), premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2024. Asya was awarded the Katharina Otto-Bernstein Mentorship and Development Prize for her short film, Out the Window Through the Wall, which won 2nd prize of La Cinef at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024.
